NFPA 1500 Advanced Hazwoper Awareness Module 1
TrainingLast updated Saturday, July 1, 2017A hazardous materials incident is defined as the release, or suspected release, of a hazardous material into the environment. Even with the best prevention methods in place, hazardous materials incidents are bound to happen. Understanding the nature of the hazardous materials you work with, and how to respond to an incident or potential incident will help you quickly manage a dangerous situation and minimize damage done to persons, the environment, and facilities. Being able to recognize and quickly request the appropriate aid is the main responsibility of first responders at the awareness level. First responders at the awareness level are typically workers likely to witness or discover a hazardous materials release within the course of their normal duties. This course is specifically designed to review the basics of hazardous materials that awareness level first responders must know. NOTE: This course must be supplemented by an assessment of hands-on performance of work tasks. These are services that TargetSolutions does not provide and should be procured through your management or training coordinator.
