The purpose of this research was to describe the City of Pewaukee's employee assistance program. The problem is that the fire department doesn't know if firefighters are aware of the employee assistance program and its components. The purpose of this research paper was to identify the awareness level regarding the employee assistance program for the City of Pewaukee Fire Department. The research was conducted using the descriptive method. The research was aimed toward three different questions. First, what are the components of the employee assistant program? Next, what is the usage rate of the employee assistance program? Finally, what are the missing components of the employee assistance program? A series of three interviews were used to research the three questions. Personal observations and a firefighter questionnaire were also used to research the three questions. The results of the procedure showed that firefighters are aware of the employee assistance program, but not all components. Mental health professionals made suggested improvements in the area of education and training for the firefighter as well as the mental health professional. Further research and exploration into the full usage of the employee assistance program was recommended. Also, improvements to the mental health training and education were suggested.
