Continuing Education
The explosion in medical knowledge over the last 25 years has increased the demand for continuing medical education. As a practical matter, most responders participate in continuing education requirements based on hours. However, some of these may not be consistent with your department’s particular operating guidelines.
During our survey, you had indicated training programs were offered by the Eastern District Medical Director’s Office but not attended regularly or held at your station for convenience. We promote on-going education as one of the most important tools to educate novice responders, elude complacency of those with experience, and ultimately control the risks faced by your company. It is recommended you provide on-going specialized training in the areas of:
- Patient Care Report Writing
- Patient Lifting/Movement
- Patient Refusal Form and Application
- Abuse Recognition
We have developed several programs which may be used to supplement or enhance training classes. Your company and the community served will benefit greatly from a well-developed program.
