Investigate Grounding of Equipment Cabinets
While not intended to carry current, metal housings and racks can become energized, which presents risk to personnel and equipment. By bonding these elements together, they have an equip potential ground and the risk for injury or damage is reduced. It is best if each rack is directly connected to the equipment ground conductor rather than “daisy-chained” together. At the time of the survey, the computer equipment was adequately connected to the grounding bar inside the cabinet; however, we were unable to determine if the cabinet is connected to the grounding system.
